usic flowed in the studio as well as nearby concert venues. Popular locations were the Richmond Mosque, the old Franklin St. Gym, the new Franklin St. Gym, the Richmond Coliseum and the Richmond Arena. Most VCU concerts were organized by the Concert Committee, another student organization, and WJRB got equal billing by promoting the concerts on campus.

As station members starting leaving school and WJRB for the real world, some began their radio careers right here in Richmond. Read a retro story that was published in Richmond Surroundings Magazine back in March, 1994 courtesy of the author, Harry Kollatz, Jr. "Days of Future Past" (pdf document) highlights the crew of WGOE-AM and weaves a fun story that included several former WJRB members.

Concerts are one of the benefits of working at any radio station and WJRB was no exception. Here Bill Byrd and  Rick Ward meet with Herbie Mann backstage after a performance at the Richmond Mosque (now known as the Landmark Theatre).

The WJRB remote van hits the streets again for another broadcast. Station give-aways were always popular with with the crowds that mobbed each event.
