Music flowed in the studio as well as nearby
concert venues. Popular locations were the Richmond
Mosque, the old Franklin St. Gym, the new Franklin St.
Gym, the Richmond Coliseum and the Richmond Arena. Most
VCU concerts were organized by the Concert Committee,
another student organization, and WJRB got equal billing
by promoting the concerts on campus.
As station members starting leaving school and WJRB for
the real world, some began their radio careers right
here in Richmond. Read a retro story that was published

highlights the crew of WGOE-AM and weaves a fun story
that included several former WJRB members.
Concerts are one of the benefits
of working at any radio station and WJRB was no
exception. Here Bill Byrd and Rick Ward meet with

were always popular with with the crowds that mobbed
each event.
